“Sleepy Hollow” has been keeping us on the edge of our seats this season. The first four episodes provided a smooth transition as Jenny and Ichabod began to build the new Team Witness. The last few installments revealed more of Malcolm Dreyfuss’ evil endgame and proved that he is willing to get want he wants at any cost. The newbies have proved themselves to be loyal and valuable members of the team, they work well together and have managed to tackle pretty much every obstacle Malcolm has thrown at them. But what happens when one of their is responsible for a supernatural threat?
In this Friday’s “Child’s Play,” Molly’s imaginary friend, Mr. Stitch, comes to life and attacks anyone who wrongs her. He sounds an awful lot like Henry’s Golem who went after Crane in Season 1 (if you need a refresher, check out my emotional recap here). It will be interesting to see what the twist is here. I don’t think Sleepy Writers would repeat a monster within a four season span. Unless Golems play a more significant role in the supernatural than we realize. The chilling promo (watch HERE) already has us creeped out! Let’s try to glean some clues from the preview info FOX has released, shall we?
FOX’s official description and episode images:
IMAGINATION AND REALITY MEET ON AN ALL-NEW “SLEEPY HOLLOW” FRIDAY, MARCH 3, ON FOX
When a monster appears that resembles Molly’s childhood imaginary friend, Diana realizes her daughter’s life as a Witness will be anything but normal. Meanwhile, Molly gets her chance to see the vault for the first time in the all-new “Child’s Play” episode of SLEEPY HOLLOW airing Friday, March 3 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (SLH-409) (TV-14 V)
Cast: Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane; Janina Gavankar as Diana Thomas; Lyndie Greenwood as Jenny Mills; Jeremy Davies as Malcolm Dreyfuss; Rachel Melvin as Alex Norwood; Jerry MacKinnon as Jake Wells; Oona Yaffe as Molly Thomas
Guest Cast: Kamar de los Reyes as Jobe; Michael Scialabba as Mr. David; Claire Byrne as Claudia; Devon Tresan as Twelve Year Old Girl; Derrick Lamont as Colleague
After looking at these photos, we make a few obvious observations and have one big question. It seems like Jenny uses some kind of ritual to summon Mr. Stitch, but Molly appears to be the only one he’ll listen to. Again, sounds a lot like a Golem. It is also eerie that this confrontation is going down in playground. It also reminds me of the child-like wonder of Crane’s carnival surroundings when he tackled Henry’s Golem. There must be reason behind these parallels. We’re curious to find out who Mr. Stitch is after and how he came to life. Did Molly accidentally conjure him? We figure all will be revealed, but we are really perplexed by the first two images of Malcolm. What is happening to him? Are Malcolm or Jobe performing a ritual that animates Mr. Stitch? Why would they want to create something that protects a Witness?
