‘Timeless’ Season 2 premiere preview: Which side is Marie Curie on in ‘The War to End All Wars’?

Huzzah ClockBlockers! We finally have ‘Timeless’ Season 2 premiere images to ogle and examine over the next month. NBC has shared a general synopsis for the second season, but has yet to release a detailed description for “The War to End All Wars.” However, we’ve gotten pretty good at putting the puzzle pieces together…Right?

Here’s what we know so far:

From Eric Kripke (“Revolution,” “Supernatural”) and Shawn Ryan (“The Shield”), season two of this thrilling action-adventure series will pick up right where we left off with our heroes. We continue to race throughout history with our beloved team: Rufus (Malcolm Barrett), a scientist; Wyatt (Matt Lanter), a soldier; and Lucy (Abigail Spencer), a history professor, in an attempt to prevent the destruction of our world as we all know it. This season they’ll find an unlikely ally in their quest to ruin Rittenhouse, a deadly organization with plans to change history and reshape reality — even though Lucy’s family has been a part of Rittenhouse for centuries. Still making every effort not to affect the past themselves, they will visit 1692, 1917, 1941, 1981 and more. We’ll be introduced to the likes of Marie Curie, Hedy Lamarr, William Randolph Hearst and a multitude of other influential people throughout history.

By the looks of it, we are going to meet Marie Curie in the premiere! Kim Bubbs guest stars as the two-time Nobel Prize winning scientist who developed the theory of radioactivity and brought x-rays to field hospitals during World War I. Naturally, we are full of questions as we gaze upon each image.

Why is Lucy with her mother, Carol? What does Rittenhouse want from Marie Curie? It can’t be good if it’s related to radiation. Maybe Carol is there to recruit or rescue someone for their cause. As you scroll down, you’ll find Carol with Emma and it seems they are holding someone captive. We have a pretty good idea who the mystery man is.

Back in November, TVLine reported that Michael Rady  guest stars as Nicholas Keynes, an American soldier that Emma and Carol care for in a remote farm house. If Rittenhouse is concerned for his survival, then he must be a key player in their conspiracy. TVLine warns, “Though he seems helpless at first, Keynes is much more formidable than he initially appears.” Guess we’ll just have to wait and see who’s side he’s really on. The Time Team could use all the help they can get to take down Rittenhouse.

We are also happy to see a Jiya back at work with Mason and Agent Christopher. However, we are still concerned about her side effects from joining the Time Team on their last trip. Have Rufus and Jiya told the others about what happened at the hospital? Will she continue to see flashes of the past? We are very anxious to learn how she is doing!

Sadly, we don’t get a glimpse of Flynn in any of these images. We can only assume that he’s still locked up and hope Lucy finds a way to free to him. It would be fantastic to see him join the Time Team and work together to stop Rittenhouse this season.

What do you think about our first look? Have you made any keen observations yet? Please share your thoughts and theories below. I’m eager to see your sleuthing skills at work!

‘Timeless’ Season 2 premiers Sunday, March 11 at 10 p.m. on NBC.
