We were left with a nail-biting cliffhanger in “Caught White-Handed.” To refresh your memory, Kevin tried catfishing Tyler as the unlikable “Leslie Nielsen,” but it didn’t work. Instead of pushing Tyler away, he ended up giving the pure soul more incentive to pursue his lady love. Ultimately, Tyler decided to follow his heart and abruptly took off to find his Earth Angel in Canada. When Kevin has a vision of his lovelorn bud on the crabbing boat he’s been getting glimpses of, their next mission is obvious. Kevin and Yvette will set out to find Tyler and tell him the truth…even if it breaks his heart.
The cast (Jason Ritter, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, and Kimberly Herbert Gregory) and creators (Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas) were happy to shed some light on what’s coming up for Team Kevin in our hilarious and illuminating podcast. Check out the video below to learn how appreciative the cast is for the fans’ unyielding efforts to #SaveKevin, discover why Ritter is always put in such compromising positions, enjoy some super fun behind-the-scenes stories and find out what we can expect to see in tonight’s episode, “Fishtail.”
In the spirit of paying it forward, Butters shares the following teasers:
“Yvette’s like, ‘I’m going to break it off with him and Kevin will be there to pick up the pieces.’ A couple of things happen. Yvette experiences something that she’s never experienced before early in the episode that’s really concerning to her. So what she does is say, ‘I’ll meet you in Canada because I gotta go seek out – I gotta go do something.’ And what she does is she goes finds Dave, who is Will Sasso. And to consult with him. So he’s brought back into the fold.”
How will Kevin react to seeing Dave again after his bitter betrayal? Is Yvette having more human side effects? She already hit every twist and turns on the emotional roller coaster, which we all can relate to. What could possibly happen to her now? Well, a look at ABC’s synopsis for the episode reveals Yvette’s problem:
“Looking to put an end to the “Lady of Laos” fiasco once and for all, Kevin travels to Canada in search of Tyler. However, his priorities quickly shift when Kevin realizes that deceiving Tyler actually means finding the next righteous soul. Meanwhile, Amy and Nate draw closer, and Yvette learns that she isn’t the only celestial being susceptible to injury.”
Yvette gets injured! What?!? How does she get hurt? Is she becoming human the longer she stays on earth? Does she have the ability to quickly heal like Wolverine? How can she protect Kevin if she’s able to get injured? This really throws Team Kevin for a loop. Also, if she is injured – How is she able to hide it from Kevin? Wouldn’t he notice? What can Dave do to help her? We have so many worries and questions!
Without Yvette’s guidance, Kevin finds himself in a dilemma of his own. Butters reveals:
“…When Kevin gets to Canada he realizes – ‘Oh my God, this is where I’m going to find my next Righteous person.’ So he has a sort of difficult choice – We could rip the Band-Aid off for Tyler and break it off with him so he could go home or we could string him along a little bit more so we can find the Righteous person.”
At first, some fans thought Tyler could be the Righteous One Kevin is supposed to embrace next. However, after the synopsis and Butters’ teaser, it seems like Tyler is practically joining Team Kevin. Isn’t it a little suspicious that Tyler is present when Kevin tracks down a Righteous One?
Without spilling any spoilers, Dustin Ybarra provided some insights on Tyler. As far as being one of the Righteous, he teases, “There’s still so many more Righteous to find.” Ybarra coyly hints, “Different people begin finding out more about themselves.”
Let’s face it, at this rate, Tyler should be an official member of Team Kevin. Ybarra doesn’t confirm or deny his eventual status. He simply muses, “That would be interesting. Tyler’s like – he’s already there…it’s the perfect little fit there.” The narrative is organically leading in that direction, so he might as well join the team already. Right?! Ybarra laughingly agrees, “Yeah that would be nice.”
He also is enjoying all the #TYvette tweets he reads. He earnestly admits, “It’s so awesome. I love it.” Speaking of relationships, the synopsis says that Amy and Nate grow closer in this episode. Will there be a proper date in the near future? J. August Richards gives us some scoop on #NAmy’s lovebird status:
“They have such a quirky, off-beat relationship. I love that. Their first date was so unconventional. We will definitely see their relationship progress. New and unchartered territory will pop-up for them. We’ll continue to watch their relationship bloom and face challenges and it’ll be really interesting.”
Yay! We can’t wait to see what is in store for all of these spectacular characters. It is fun to see how everyone is on their own adventure. Each character is learning more about him/herself and he/she is all the stronger and better for it.
It will be fascinating to see what happens with Tyler. Yvette and Kevin should just tell him the whole truth at this point. He is too sweet and sincere to toy with. Actually, it would be really cool to eventually see all of Kevin’s loved ones join the team.
Given Yvette’s increasing human side effects, you can’t help but wonder if she’ll have control over her invisibility after a certain amount of time on earth. What happens if she suddenly appears out of thin air before their eyes? Kevin’s quirks would suddenly make a whole lot more sense to his friends and family.
