‘This is Us’ theory: The answer to #WhereIsJack?

“Death ends a life, not a relationship.” ~ Mitch Albom, ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’

Ever since the shocking moment we saw Rebecca walk through Randall’s door with her new husband Miguel aka Jack’s best friend, many of us assumed that Jack must be dead. After all, she is still wearing the moon necklace he gave her. Sure, they had their problems, but they seem to truly and deeply love each other in flashbacks. If their relationship ended badly and they divorced each other, then why would she still be wearing that meaningful necklace he gave her? Even if they parted on “good terms,” getting together with his pal must be weirder than they make it seem at first glance…right?

After reading EW’s articles on tonight’s episode (http://www.ew.com/…/this-is-us-milo-ventimiglia-chrissy-met… & http://www.ew.com/…/20…/10/25/this-us-dan-fogelman-game-plan), I still believe Jack is gone, but not forgotten.

Tonight we’ll see Toby interfering with Kate’s ritual of watching the Steeler’s game alone…but I don’t think she’s really alone. Given her tight bond with Jack, she is probably watching the game with her dad (even if he is only there in spirit).

So far, we’ve only been assured of one thing: we will all be bawling by episode’s end. I can’t think of what would make me cry more than the thought of a family trying to keep the spirit of a loved one alive.

What do you think? Do you suspect a twist? Could it be as simple as the fact that Jack passed away? Or will we be shocked to discover that he is still alive? If he lives, then what’s current life like? Share your thoughts!
