Now that filming is underway, “Sleepy Hollow” Season 3 is slowly taking form, beginning with a new series regular and a crossover event.
“We are all very excited to welcome Nikki Reed into the world of Sleepy Hollow,” co-creator/EP Len Wisemantold THR. “Nikki’s the perfect choice to bring a smart and sexy edge to our show’s twisted version of American icon, Betsy Ross.”
You can’t help but wonder if Betsy and Ichabod first flirted as a couple of Washington’s covert spies. Maybe he courted her in an attempt to get over Katrina while she was still betrothed to Abraham. The Sleepy Camp has made it clear that Betsy is going to be one saucy gal, which will hopefully allow for more Crane-tastic moments. After all, we know how adorably uncomfortable Ichabod feels when a girl gets fresh with him.
What do you think Sleepy Heads? Are you expecting to see some steamy flashbacks between Ross and Crane? Will we only see Ross as Washington’s spy in the past? Or will she time-travel to the present day and help out Team Witness? Do you think Reed is the right choice for the role or did you have another actress in mind whenever Ross was mentioned?
Ross isn’t the only fresh-face coming to town this season, FOX announced yesterday that they will stage a “Sleepy Hollow” and “Bones” two-episode crossover (one for each show) later in the 2015-2016 season. Entertainment Weekly explains:
Story details, including which characters would appear in each episode, have not yet been disclosed—but the mind reels at the possibilities. Usually crossovers are done between very similar programs, often existing in the same storytelling universe — like among the NCIS or CSI franchises. Taking two very creatively different series and shuffling them together will likely be a must-watch experiment for fans of both.
Last season “NCIS: LA” and “Hawaii Five-0” also held a similar event in which characters from “NCIS: LA” found themselves traveling to Hawaii for a big case. However, both of those shows are grounded in the same cop drama format. It will be fascinating to see how this unconventional FOX crossover plays out. Until FOX releases an official synopsis, fans of both shows will be full of questions and ideas.
Will Crane and Mills be called in to help out on a ‘Bones’ case? Or will Bones and Booth high-tail it to Sleepy Hollow for some supernatural fare? Perhaps the crossover will down-play all the apocalyptic stuff by strictly focusing on the characters and American history.
How do you feel about the crossover? Are you a fan of “Bones”? Do you think FOX is grasping at straws for a ratings boost? If this works, would FOX be open to doing a crossover with a different network? What “Sleepy Hollow” crossovers are on your wish-list? Should this event give us hope that our Sleepy Dreams will someday come true (some of us are still holding out hope for #SuperSleepy)? Share your thoughts below and stay tuned for more scoop.
“Sleepy Hollow” Season 3 premieres Thursday, Oct. 1 at 9 p.m. on FOX.
