‘The Masked Singer’ Season 1 Episode 6 Review: We’re Raven Mad Over Monster

This week’s edition of FOX‘s The Masked Singer “Touchy Feely Clues” saw another group performance showcasing Peacock, Monster, Raven and Bee’s blended voices. Although Raven is clearly the weakest singer of the ensemble, she still held her own. The clues were definitely meant to throw us off track. We need to stick with our first instincts because so far we’ve done well in the guessing department. Fellow Bleeding Cool contributor Leigh Kade and I weigh in on the latest performances and see if our hunches have changed.

The Reveal!

Post-show interview with Ricki:

Tiffany: Leigh, we were right again! We should start betting LOL

The judges’ guesses are improving too. I’m surprised Robin Thickethought of Ricki Lake.

Leigh: Robin really gets into it, too! I think he’s got a lot of it figured out already but is having a blast with the adventure of it all.

Tiffany: I think we’re set on our guesses for Gladys Knight as Bee and Donny Osmond as Peacock. I even like Knight’s version of “Wrecking Ball” more than the original! Such a cool performance. Their presentation improves each week.

I finally have a hunch on Monster. Did he sound a little like Wayne Bradyto you? He’s a solid all-around performer and hilarious. I need to learn more about him to see if the clues line-up.

Leigh: I never thought about Wayne Brady! He has the vocal chops, and you can see his range at work in a lot of Whose Line is it Anyway? I’m still completely at a loss for Monster. I see a lot of people online convinced that it’s T-Pain, but I don’t know enough about T-Pain to guess. Brady would be cool, he’s a talented person!

As far as Gladys Knight goes, if she isn’t Bee, I’ll get on a midnight train to Georgia.

Tiffany: LOL! Ohhh I didn’t think of T-Pain! He’s a great rapper, but I’ve never heard him sing. Monster is funny though. I have no idea about T-Pain’s sense of humor.

After a little Googling, it seems like both of them fit the clues. They have overcome dark times in their lives. I know Brady showcases his vocal chops on Broadway too. As it turns out, T-Pain can sing without autotune:

My gut says Brady, but there is a compelling argument for T-Pain. Both are in the running when you browse through online chatter. Hopefully, we’ll get a more decisive clue in the next episode.Am I the only one who feels like smacking Nick when he says, “Reveal the revealing physical clue”? It drives me crazy! I mean, just use a thesaurus already.

Leigh: Hahahah! The only thing keeping me from outright loving this show is the panel. If they did away with that part of the format, I would be all in. But it seems to fit the standard American talent show format, so I doubt that will happen.

Tiffany: I’m cool with having a panel, I just want better panelists. They don’t even judge the performances really. They say everything people at home tweet about during the show. I’m glad they are bringing in more guest judges! We’ll see J.B. Smoove in Episode 7 and Kenan Thompsonin Episode 8. Yay!
