Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills are back in action! On Monday, September 22, “Sleepy Hollow” returns with an action-packed, blood-pumping, explosive, riveting and heart-warming Season 2 premiere episode. As expected, Sleepy Heads, “This is War” lives up to our expectations and sucks us right back into the lovable, addictive and wacky world of “Sleepy Hollow.”
If you have been following Sleepy spoilers throughout the summer, then the premiere may not hold too many surprises for you. Plus some of the sneak peeks below are pretty revealing. Nonetheless, the entire episode is full of so many wonderful moments that will make you gasp, sigh, cheer and swoon. Here is what you should expect from “Sleepy Hollow’s” kick-ass comeback.
Benjamin Franklin’s “twistory”
Timothy Busfield is a delight as Benjamin Franklin, as you can easily see in Entertainment Weekly’s exclusive clip. During press tours earlier this year, it was revealed that Tom Misonmentioned how Franklin enjoyed taking “air baths,” so naturally the writers had to include it on the show. Brace yourselves, Sleepy Heads, you’ll be seeing much more of Ben than you may have bargained for. Watch the scene HERE.
This twistory lesson shows us that Franklin’s Kite Experiment was an attempt to destroy a very special key. If you don’t mind spoilers, we revealed the key’s purpose in an earlier article. Once again, “Sleepy Hollow” finds a brilliant way to intertwine American history with the supernatural. However, the funniest thing about Franklin is how Crane feels about him. After serving as his apprentice during the Revolutionary War, Ichabod has a beef with Ben’s pompous attitude. It is adorable to see Ichabod’s brows furrow with annoyance at the mere thought of his former boss.
“Reunited in Purgatory”
Abbie is still stuck in Purgatory, but she is not alone. She gets a major assist from an old friend, which serves as a total game-changer. See who lends Miss Mills a hand HERE.
Moloch’s Plan
As we saw in the scene above, Moloch is advancing his plan for world domination. The war has already begun and he isn’t going to slow things down. He already has two Horsemen doing his bidding on earth, now he just needs a demon army to be at their disposal. Will Moloch succeed? Can Ichabbie stop Moloch and his minions from escaping through the gates of Purgatory?
War really is Hell
Curse you Henry Parrish! John Noble continues to raise our blood pressure as the vindictive Horseman of War and the Crane’s devious offspring. The Sin Eater really enjoys playing mind-games, he relishes in causing his parents (especially Ichabod) pain and he nastily puts all of his skills to use. Henry has a few delectable scenes in the season opener, which will make you want to scream at your TV. Oh Mr. Nobel, how we love to hate you.
Captive Katrina
The Headless Horseman holds Katrina captive and it isn’t a pretty sight. This scene is not for the faint of heart. Watch Katrina gain an upper hand on creepy old Headless (and beware of blood) HERE. Mrs. Crane shows great resolve in the season premiere. She continues to thwart Abraham’s advances and remains loyal to her husband. It will be interesting to see how their dynamic evolves into a ‘Beauty and the Beast’ type of situation because for now, Katrina is not feeling her former beau at all.
Badass Jenny
It is no surprise that Jenny survives her freaky car crash. We already know she is a badass, but she continues to impress us when she faces off against horrible Hessians…again. There is one moment in her great escape that will make you all squee with delight. You’ll know it when you see it.
Ichabbie
Saving the best for last! There are some super sweet scenes between Ichabod and Abbie. Their partnership is truly one of a kind and their loyalty to one another is admirable. Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie are magical together. There will be tight hugs, deep gazes, a bit of banter and a whole lot of platonic love. These two characters have come to know each other so well and it is a joy to watch their friendship evolve.
Yes, Sleepy Heads, you will fall in love with Ichabbie’s adorable interaction all over again. Plus, Mison as Crane can truly do no wrong. We are but putty in your hands, Good Sir.
Bottom Line: “This is War” is a fantastic episode and a great way to start the second season. The way Ichabod, Abbie and Jenny get out of their particular predicaments are all so well done. The only thing missing is an appearance from Captain Frank Irving, but I’m sure we’ll see how he’s holding up in prison sometime soon.
Sometimes you don’t realize how much you’ve been missing something until it returns. “Sleepy Hollow,” it is wonderful to have you back. Although you will always be worth the arduous wait, please don’t ever leave us for so long again.
Catch the “Sleepy Hollow” Season 2 premiere, Monday, Sept. 22 at 9 p.m. on FOX.
