‘Timeless’ S1 Ep 15 preview: Swoon over ‘Supernatural’s’ Misha Collins as Elliot Ness in ‘Public Enemy No. 1’

The highly anticipated “Supernatural” stunt casting on “Timeless” continues as Season 1 winds down. As you already know, Jim Beaver (aka beloved Bobby Singer) begins his arc in “The Lost Generation.” Nosy Agent Neville will stick around through the end of the season, mostly likely causing trouble for the Time Team.  He’ll be breathing down Agent Christopher’s neck as Connor Mason and Rittenhouse try to continue strong-arming the gang to stop Garcia Flynn and do their shady bidding. Although we don’t know what exactly happens in “The Lost Generation,” we do piece together a few clues from NBC’s episode description and images for “Public Enemy No. 1” airing on Monday, Feb. 13 at 10 p.m.:

FLYNN ESCALATES HIS AGENDA IN MOB-RULED CHICAGO AND OUR REUNITED TRIO GOES ON THE OFFENSIVE.

Lucy (Abigail Spencer), Wyatt (Matt Lanter), and Rufus (Malcolm Barrett) decide to take matters into their own hands, but are caught off guard when Flynn (Goran Višnjic) lands in 1931 Chicago to call in a favor from notorious gangster Al Capone (guest star Cameron Gharaee).  Hot on Flynn’s trail, our heroes try to enlist the help of famed lawman, Elliot Ness (guest star Misha Collins), in pursuit of Al Capone after Flynn aids him in avoiding justice. A clue leads the team to a crucial revelation about Rittenhouse.  Also starring Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey and Claudia Doumit. Also starring John Getz, Jim Beaver, Mather Zickel and Paul Moniz de Sa.

For starters, it looks like Wyatt is out of the doghouse. Phew! After the intense and illuminating “Karma Chameleon” (ICYMI watch my lively video review HERE), we know that Agent Christopher is on the Time Team’s side. Maybe she helps the gang go rogue, as they journey back to the good ole’ days of ‘The Untouchables‘ and try to keep Flynn from making a mess of history as we know it.

Mob stories are always fun to watch, but seeing Collins as Ness makes this episode even more spectacular! You have to admit, this era looks so stylish on screen. Enjoy swooning over the sharp pin-striped suits and glamorous get-ups:

Flynn seems to have a lot on his mind in these images. He must be getting desperate and is taking even greater historical risks to eradicate Rittenhouse. One photo shows Flynn pensively sitting in a pew and chatting with a priest. We know he has a conscience and must feel guilty for some of the horrible things he has done. After all, he told Lucy that once he gets his family back, he’s no longer worthy of being a husband and father to them. Which is heartbreaking, but he is still hellbent on stopping Rittenhouse at any cost. Does he want Capone and his henchmen to take out Rittenhouse’s head honcho? Will this trip strike a significant blow to this vindictive organization?

Ness looks like the intense lawman of legend. He’s working hard to take Capone and his crew down. He probably doesn’t want any distractions. So…how will Lucy, Rufus and Wyatt convince Ness to help them out? Will they act as informants and tell Ness they can guarantee Capone’s capture in exchange for some assistance? We’ll just have to wait and see!

Fun-fact: ‘Supernatural’ fans may be having a bit of deja vu. In Season 7’s “Time After Time” Dean traveled back to 1944 and worked alongside Elliot Ness (Nicholas Lea), who happened to be a hunter, just like the Winchesters. It’s one of my favorite episodes. Dean fanboys over Ness and quips all sorts of fun “The Untouchables” allusions. I can only imagine how awesome “Timeless'” take will be!

What do you think, Time Team? Are you thrilled to see Collins guest star? Do you think Flynn will accomplish his mission? Do you have any theories as this incredible season crawls to a close? Also, there is no sign of Emma in these photos…where did she go?! Share your thoughts!
